Background:  

Launched in 2003 and owned by Sinclair, Inc., Tennis Channel (TC) has become the media home of tennis in the U.S. and around the world.  In addition to coverage at majors like Wimbledon and the US Open, the network and its sibling channel T2 show multiple men’s and women’s tournaments week after week throughout the year.  TC is the exclusive U.S. home of the men’s and women’s professional tours and all of the sport’s international team-cup competitions.  Its app and website house a streaming service with the traditional television network and another 10,000 hours of live and on-demand matches along with original content. Outside of the country, TC’s international division brings competition and network programming to Europe and Asia through digital subscriptions and free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels.  The network also operates a channel devoted to pickleball – Pickleballtv – with the Professional Pickleball Association. 

In addition to live tournament coverage, Tennis Channel produces a variety of original programming. This includes shows such as "Tennis Channel Live," which provides daily news and updates from the tennis world, and "Tennis Channel Academy," which offers instructional content to help players improve their game. The network also features documentaries that delve into the history of tennis, iconic players, and memorable matches. Tennis Channel has established partnerships with various tennis organizations and governing bodies, allowing it to deliver exclusive content and behind-the-scenes access to the sport. It has also developed a strong online presence, offering streaming services that enable viewers to watch matches and access content on multiple devices.

Position Summary:  

Tennis Channel is seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Vice President of Marketing to lead transformative growth strategies and expand the network’s global reach. Reporting to the President, this high-impact leader will guide a talented marketing team, directly overseeing four Vice Presidents and their respective teams, to drive engagement and elevate brand visibility. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, innovative marketing expert with a track record of developing, executing, and leading successful cross-platform campaigns that create new revenue opportunities and maximize audience engagement across digital, social, and traditional channels. The Senior Vice President of Marketing will focus on enhancing brand awareness and strategically driving growth through data insights, creative content, and audience-driven initiatives.  This visionary marketer will drive targeted and strategic campaigns to increase the Tennis Channel’s viewership. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the marketing team, crafting high-impact campaigns that boost brand awareness, engagement, and revenue across all platforms. Shaping TC’s marketing strategies, optimizing campaigns, and maximizing the impact of the brand in the highly competitive live sports entertainment space while navigating the Linear, DTC environment.  

  • Oversees all creative output for live sports marketing, media strategy, brand, events and more. 

  • Fosters teamwork and collaboration amongst an expert team of four (4) VP direct reports and across the organization.  

  • Cultivate a collaborative environment among marketing and other departments including DTC, Digital, Production, Programming, and International, to enhance ratings, boost DTC subscriptions, increase app downloads, and drive social media engagement. 

  • Set the strategic direction for the network marketing and social teams to meet DTC acquisition goals, brand awareness, and linear ratings. 

  • Own, manage, and track the networks marketing budget. 

  • Leverage data analytics, user insights, and fan behavior from the Research department and other sources to help guide and inform strategies, messaging, prioritization, optimization and subscription offerings. 

  • Collaborate with Programming and Social teams to align marketing initiatives. 

  • Develop, organize, and track delivery of creative assets for multiple platforms, DTC, Social, linear, web, etc. 

  • Establish and foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization. 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business, or a related field. 

  • 15+ years of linear and digital experience in sports media and entertainment or digital company with experience leading brand and customer acquisition. 

  • Experience and confidence in working with data scientists to inform paid marketing strategies. 

  • Detail oriented strategic thinker who can prioritize and execute a plan within a fast-paced environment under demanding ever changing deadlines. 

  • Deep understanding of creative and production processes in both traditional and non-traditional media. 

  • Stellar interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills both written and oral. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry, including emerging trends. A sports fan ideally with a passion for tennis and familiarity with Pickleball. 

  • Proactive and persuasive, with excellent negotiating and relationship building skills.  

  • Knowledge and an interest in the evolving live sports landscape and its impact on culture. 

Salary:  

$325,000 + Bonus Eligibility

Allie Crone - Vice President Marketing & Communications

Allie Crone joined TurnkeyZRG in 2018 and currently serves as Vice President, leading the firm’s Marketing & Communications practice. While at TurnkeyZRG, Ms. Crone has led dozens of executive level searches including Chief Marketing Officer of the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Ilitch Holdings (Detroit Tigers & Red Wings), and Comcast Spectacor (Philadelphia Flyers), as well Chief Communications Officer for the US Olympic & Vice President of Communications for the Portland Trailblazers and Philadelphia Flyers. Within the Marketing function, she has also led searches in Live Entertainment & Game Presentation, Digital Marketing, Content and Social Media.
