Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent - NewCo was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle.

As such, Relevent – NewCo is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.

Role Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Relevent – NewCo will hold a critical position on the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team, leading global financial strategy—with a laser focus on cash flow management, financial controls and international operations.

The CFO will build out and oversee all financial functions of the business, ensuring the company has the structure, systems, and insights needed to grow sustainably. The role will take ownership of short- and long-term financial planning, working capital optimisation, cross-border cash management, compliance, and travel and logistics.

This role requires significant experience in forming an entirely new financial operation, navigating the complexities of operating finance across multiple countries and currencies, managing risk, and maintaining strong liquidity while scaling a fast-moving business.

The CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will business partner closely with the leadership team on all strategic matters as they relate to the financial workings of the company, including budgeting and forecasting, treasury management, accounting, payroll, financial planning, and reporting.

The CFO will be based in Relevent – NewCo’s London office.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Building

  • Build the Finance and Travel and Logistics functions including hiring, training and setting, tracking and accounting for department goals and objectives.

  • Drive finance strategy by aligning functional goals with company-wide objectives and delivering actionable financial insights to support strategic planning.

  • Partner with the executive leadership team in the development of organisational fiscal goals, strategies, and plans for implementation.

  • Oversee the creation of org-wide policies related to budgeting, travel, vendor and risk management.

  • Design and lead scalable finance operations across multiple international territories.

  • Collaborate with HR on employee matters relative to hiring/headcount, salary increases, bonuses and other monetary/financial matters.

Cash Flow Management, Accounting and Reporting

  • Oversee and direct treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting and insurance activities for the organisation.

  • Own the end-to-end cash flow strategy, ensuring the business maintains optimal liquidity to meet operational and strategic needs.

  • Align cash planning with deal structures, rights acquisition timelines, and revenue recognition for partnership, licensing and commercial agreements.

  • Lead the preparation of yearly budgets and monthly forecasts, including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.

  • Responsible for the daily accounting duties within department.

  • Analyse, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.

  • Develop dashboards detailing key financial and operating metrics per division.

  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analysing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimising the impact of variances.

  • Maintain audit readiness and oversee external audit relationships.

  • Present periodic financial reports on the organisation's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.

Global Financial Operations and Tax Matters

  • Lead the opening and financial operations of new global office locations assuming responsibility for related currency, tax laws, headcount and payroll requirements, insurance, and risk.

  • Establish international banking relationships, oversee currency and foreign exchange strategies, and manage intercompany transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements in all countries of operation.

  • Ensure adequate, comprehensive, and cost-efficient insurance coverage, for all internal and external exposure.

Systems and Procedures

  • Minimize manual, time-consuming processes, through the implementation of effective systems and technology.

  • Design and implement financial controls and policies that mitigate risk while enabling growth.

  • Ensure segregation of duties is properly maintained for all accounting procedures and processes within the department.

  • Ensure all employees across the organisation are trained to follow processes and procedures related to accounting.

  • Advise on the organisation's Corporate Governance and ensure implementation of good practices and processes, including maintenance of departmental policies and procedures to create sound internal controls.

Travel & Logistics

  • Provide leadership for the Travel & Logistics department, ensuring companywide policies and procedures are established, monitored and maintained.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Fully qualified Accountant – ACA / ICAS / CIMA / ACCA.

  • Minimum of 15 years finance and accounting experience including management of personnel.

  • Demonstrable experience of building and leading a high performing finance function within a fast-paced international organisation.

  • Deep expertise in cash flow management, treasury, and international financial operations.

  • Experience in developing and leading annual budget, forecasting and strategic planning processes; successful track record of developing business metrics, dashboards and reporting that provide insightful information regarding historical performance and forecasts, and facilitate evaluation of the existing business and new initiatives.

  • Successful experience in engineering financial processes to eliminate error and improve cycle/reporting times; solid understanding of how financial processes work, how data should flow between financial and operating systems, and how to use technology to maximise efficiency and control.

  • Intelligent, entrepreneurial leader with partnership mentality, and significant experience running day-to-day financial operations in a multicultural environment.

  • Superior team leadership skills, including ability to create an organised, efficient and enthusiastic team of highly skilled executives, as well as a culture of accountability and commitment to achieving results. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of communicating up and down the organisation and can simplify financial concepts and terminology.

  • Ability to think strategically while executing operational initiatives effectively.
