Position Summary:

The Vice President of A&R (the “VP”) will start and run Position Music’s Nashville A&R office. The VP will play a pivotal role in identifying, signing, and nurturing talented artists, producers, songwriters, etc. while contributing to the growth and success of our organization. This position requires a deep passion for music, an extensive network within the industry, and a proven track record of artist development and success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Position Music’s new A&R office in Nashville by fostering and maintaining relationships with artists, songwriters, and producers in the Nashville and Los Angeles music communities.

  • Sign and develop artists, songwriters and producers in the pop, country, and alternative formats.

  • Set up strategic co-write sessions with intention and purpose that focuses on creating music that will compete on the radio.

  • Work with the music publishing community to solicit and pitch songs for outside cuts.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Position Music’s Nashville based recording artists, songwriters, and their teams.

  • Identify master and publishing catalog acquisition opportunities.

  • Oversee the recording process (i.e., spending time in studios, listening to mixes, etc.) to ensure the successful release of scheduled music.

  • Build and execute a dedicated approach to look for and discover new talent by attending showcases, writer rounds, and various events throughout the Nashville music community which could include evenings and weekends.

  • Maintain Nashville recording budgets for all label releases.

  • Attend weekly A&R and marketing meetings with the LA office via zoom.

Required Qualifications:

  • Established network of contacts in the music industry including other artists, songwriters, producers, A&R teams, and attorneys.

  • Proven track record of discovering and signing top-level talent.

  • Record making experience with a track record of creating hits.

  • Located and well established in the Nashville, TN community.

  • Creative and thrives in a team-based environment.

  • Strong leadership experience and a desire to mentor and manage a team.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Self-starter and problem solver that this highly communicative.

  • Ability and willingness to travel last minute.

Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in music business, music production, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of A&R experience in the music industry, with a proven track record of artist development and success.

Salary:

$150,000 - $200,000 (based on experience).
