Position Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven Head of Advertising Sales to spearhead all aspects of advertising and sponsorship revenue generation. This is a unique opportunity to build our commercial sales organization from the ground up and be responsible for leading all advertising sales efforts. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with deep industry relationships and a proven ability to sell to blue-chip advertisers and agencies in the sports media space.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive advertising and sponsorship sales strategy aligned with the company’s growth goals.
Own the end-to-end sales process, including prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing deals.
Leverage an extensive network of relationships with brands and agencies to secure high-impact advertising partnerships.
Provide market insights to senior leadership to inform long-term business and sales strategies.
Client & Partner Relationships:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key advertisers, agencies, and sponsors looking to connect with sports fans.
Identify opportunities to partner with brands on creative, cross-platform solutions, including digital video, social media, and audio campaigns.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring seamless communication and campaign execution.
Revenue Generation & Forecasting:
Drive new sales opportunities and manage the growth of existing client accounts.
Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular performance reports to senior leadership.
Operational Execution:
Roll up your sleeves to handle all operational aspects of advertising sales, from crafting pitches to managing contracts and campaign delivery.
Collaborate with content, production, and creative teams to ensure the alignment of advertising opportunities with the company’s editorial vision.
Manage workflow efficiently, building the foundation for scaling sales operations as the team grows.
Team Building:
Lay the groundwork for future team expansion by identifying key roles and setting up processes to support a growing sales organization.
Act as a mentor and leader as the sales team is built over time, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of advertising sales experience, with a strong focus on sports media content with a focus around digital media.
Proven track record of selling to top-tier advertisers and agencies and consistently achieving revenue goals.
Deep relationships with brands and agencies that invest heavily in sports media.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Experience working independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Expertise in crafting and selling integrated advertising campaigns across digital, social, and audio platforms.
