Background: 

The Orlando Magic, Central Florida’s NBA franchise since 1989, has seen great success in a relatively short history, winning seven division championships (1995, 1996, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2019, 2024) and capturing the Eastern Conference title in 1995 and 2009. Off the court, on an annual basis, the Orlando Magic gives more than $2 million to the local community by way of sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise, and grants. The Magic’s other entities include the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic, which began play in the 2017-18 season in nearby Lakeland, FL; the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, which serves as the affiliate to the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning; and Magic Gaming, which began play in 2018, the inaugural season of the NBA 2K League.

Position Summary: 

The Global Partnerships Executive Sales Manager will play a critical role in new business development for the Orlando Magic, LTD and associated properties. This individual will be tasked with selling innovative and impactful partnerships that help brands connect with consumers through the Magic’s sports properties and venue, the Kia Center. Reporting to the Director of Global Partnership Sales, this individual will join a successful team recognized across the sports industry as a leader in sports partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Strive to achieve company, department and personal goals and objectives, with personal goals ranging from high six figures into seven figures annually.

  • Achieve sales goals through both new business of advertising/ branding, consumer marketing campaigns, digital marketing, community relations initiatives and hospitality opportunities.

  • Create compelling sales narratives to engage top level executives and decision makers around the value of partnering with the Orlando Magic.

  • Successfully identify prospective companies and progress the company through the complete sales cycle, including negotiating final contract terms.

  • Develop integrated partnerships that mutually elevate brand messaging and objectives.

  • Develop an understanding of ROI strategies as they relate to the clients’ unique business.

  • Identify new and innovative brand categories for partnership opportunities.

  • Develop an understanding of metrics across all partnership elements.

  • Develop revenue for the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation’s annual events.

  • Collaborate with affiliate properties – Orlando Solar Bears, Osceola Magic, and Magic Gaming – to drive partnership revenue across the entirety of the property portfolio.

  • Effectively communicate client expectations and contractual obligations to appropriate internal departments during the sales process to ensure successful onboarding of new partners.

  • Effectively transition accounts to the Global Partnerships Activation team to ensure fulfillment of client deliverables, goals, and objectives.

  • Responsible for accounts receivables related to new partnership deals.

  • Game night responsibilities include maintaining partner profile within entitlement areas, hosting prospects, assisting activation team as needed and/or prospecting future clients.

  • Provide legendary service in a team selling environment.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required with a minimum of 10 years of sponsorship sales in either the sporting or large-scale entertainment industries required.

  • Experience in sponsorship sales at a sports property / league, sports & entertainment agency, or sports media property is required.

  • Experience in digital content sales is preferred.

  • Proven track record of reaching sales quotas and working in a fast-paced sales environment required.

  • Experience developing marketing plans, promotions, presentations, and proposals required.

  • Experience in developing international partnership sales is preferred.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.

  • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.

  • Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.

  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department; Ability to work Magic home games, which includes nights and weekends.

James Jordan joined TurnkeyZRG in early 2023 in the role of Director, Marketing Partnerships, focused on corporate partnership recruiting. Mr. Jordan has made an immediate impact, placing partnership executives at organizations including the Golden State Warriors, LA Chargers, LaLiga, the Laver Cup, and more.
