Background:

beatBread has rapidly emerged as a game-changer in the independent music funding space since its founding in 2020. beatBread’s mission is to empower artists, independent labels, distributors and songwriters with more choices, and better funding. Since its launch in 2020, beatBread has funded over 1300 clients on six continents, with funding amounts ranging from $1,000 to over $10 million. beatBread provides funding on existing catalog as well as new and unreleased music, providing growth capital for clients across the music industry.

beatBread’s funding platform is open and transparent, offering the ability to customize term length, recoupment rates, and other terms while retaining control over distribution and marketing partners. Some clients may choose to sell their catalogs on the platform, but all are presented with funding options that enable them to retain ownership of their music. Qualifying artists and labels will receive offers from multiple distribution and finance companies through beatBread’s Funding Network and can leverage beatBread’s Comparison Tool™ to compare offers and make smart funding decisions.

Position Summary: 

beatBread is seeking a Music Funding Lead to drive strategic growth across genres and global markets, expanding their originations and industry profile. This role will develop and execute engagement strategies that resonate with independent labels and artists, fostering meaningful partnerships.

The Music Funding Lead will be responsible for generating new business by advocating for beatBread, identifying and cultivating relationships with established labels and artists, and securing key signings. Additionally, they will build strong connections with influential industry leaders and innovators to enhance beatBread’s brand presence.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Own the full sales cycle—from prospecting and pitching to negotiation and closing—to secure high-value funding deals with independent labels, artists, and key industry stakeholders.

  • Drive $10M+ in yearly origination by achieving and exceeding targets through a strategic and data-backed approach.

  • Develop and execute targeted business development strategies to identify new opportunities, expand market reach, and optimize deal flow.

  • Educate and inspire potential partners on the advantages of beatBread’s funding solutions, including the Deal Comparison Tool and Funding Network, while focusing on established independent labels and artists.

  • Leverage financial data and industry insights to sell innovative funding solutions, positioning beatBread as the premier funding source for independent music.

  • Manage and optimize the sales pipeline, ensuring efficiency in tracking opportunities, progress, and performance metrics.

  • Build and maintain deep industry relationships with key decision-makers, including artist managers, business managers, entertainment attorneys, and independent labels.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including underwriting, marketing, and product—to tailor solutions that maximize value for clients.

  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to refine underwriting criteria, and product development.

  • Represent beatBread at industry events, and conferences, expanding the company’s presence and fostering high-impact partnerships.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging financial models, and competitor strategies to continuously innovate and drive growth in music finance.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in a label-facing role within the music industry, with at least 5+ years focused on achieving and surpassing business targets.

  • Previous experience at a DSP, distributor, or record label.

  • Recognized industry expert in distribution, A&R, or marketing, with strong credibility in the music community.

  • Proven ability to advise labels on key decisions related to distribution, funding, and artist acquisition.

  • Hands-on experience structuring and deploying advances to labels.

  • Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding business targets through deal-making, partnerships, and revenue growth.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively across all levels of an organization.

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with deep industry connections.

  • Highly detail-oriented, with a process-driven and solution-focused approach.

  • Strong personal accountability, with the ability to provide regular, insightful status updates to beatBread’s executive team.

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the music industry, including market trends and emerging opportunities.

  • Deep understanding of artist and creative mindsets, with the ability to navigate their unique needs.
